Meet our two guest artists:
Working exclusively in oils, Katherine Taylor has been painting and exhibiting in Central Oregon for 20 years and considers herself a painter of light and dark. Her signature artwork employs the dramatic chiaroscuro lighting and luminous glazing she learned from her classical art training in the 1990s.
Katherine paints in all genres: wildlife, still life, landscape, portraiture, figure, especially subject matter where she feels she can capture an authentic and soulful aspect of a place, animal, or person, that part that is mythic, heroic, compassionate, and uplifting.
Katherine?s style today reflects new explorations of painterly surface marks with tools beyond just the brush, in her desire to let the paint itself remain as beautiful as the subject. Whenever possible, she can be found painting en plein air, capturing Central Oregon?s diverse light and landscape as the day unfolds.
Katherine?s work has been included in many galleries and exhibitions in the US. She also teaches classical oil painting. As a mentor, she finds the connection with her students to be as equally enriching as her art creation.
